Al Ahly to use DNA matched training to improve their training and boost performance July 2016
Egyptian football champions Al Ahly have become the first major team in Africa and one of the first in the world to use DNA testing to improve their players’ performance.
Al Ahly’s manager Martin Jol and its head of performance Michael Lindeman have used the DNAFit test to assess how their players respond to training and whether they have a raised risk of picking up injury.
The club chose to use DNAFit after an independent clinical study showed football players who trained to their genetic-makeup improved their athletic performance almost three times more than those on mismatched training programmes.
